Hi folks,

Just a brief report on what we are hearing about the Station Fire. Our office attended a press briefing this morning at the Hansen Dam Command Center where Fire and Emergency personnel gave updates on the situation. Many of our City leaders were also in attendance, including Mayor Villaraigosa and Controller Wendy Greuel.

Following is the most up-to-date information given during the briefing:

Significant progress was made in the last 24 hours against the fire’s encroachment into Tujunga and improving weather conditions should allow further gains today.

Evacuation orders were lifted last night for Alpine Village and the gated community adjacent to it.

Decisions will be made at noon today on the lifting of additional evacuation orders for the areas of Riverwood Ranch, Seven Hills and Haines Canyon East to the City Line. We will be sending out notice from the Council Office as soon as we hear from the Fire Department.

The Red Cross Shelter at Verdugo Hills High School (enter off Hillrose West of Plainview) remains open at this time.

No structure damage has been reported within the City limits.
