DWP may seek water rate hike to repair water system
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power officials said today that the city has seen an increase in the number of "major blowouts" in which water comes shooting up through pavement because of water main problems. The DWP might seek a water rate hike to make repairs to the system, which has seen a string of major water main problems in recent weeks.

During the last rate increase, DWP said they had enough to finance the infrastructure improvement.
Furthermore, DWP still has the $100 million that they kept from the illegal 5% transfer fee.

Here we go again.
When DWP was doing its rate increases, it told us that the rate increases would be sufficient [to repair the infrastructure.]
Plus they have the $100 mm +++ related to the 5% illegal transfer fee. [For years the DWP has been transferring 5% of its revenue to L.A. City’s general fund. The courts said the transfer was illegal and the city was ordered to stop. It has, but the city it has not refunded previous year transfers to the ratepayers.]
