We have just learned through LAPD Senior Lead Officer Rich Wall that LAPD are presently going into the community of Tujunga to evacuate those residents who live north of Day Street in the Haines Canyon area. They are starting evacuations at the Glendale/L.A. border and moving west.
This is due to the movement of the Station fire, as it heads towards Haines Canyon.
Once the evacuations are complete, LAFD plans to set a backfire (a controlled burn) in Haines Canyon in order to protect homes which are in close proximity to the area.
LAPD and LAFD would appreciate STNC's assistance in disseminating this information to your notification lists.
Once LAFD has updated information as to the western perimeter of the evacuation, we will update you with this information.
