Fire Evacuation Information - August 29, 2009

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

In our ongoing effort to keep the community engaged and informed during the emergency conditions that exist surrounding the Station Fire, the STNC encourages all residents to keep an eye on the media to monitor rapidly changing conditions, and to stay in touch with friends and family in an effort to lend a hand where needed and to keep everyone on the safe side of these events.

To that end, we have been asked by the Red Cross to communicate the following information:

• A Red Cross Disaster Relief and evacuation center has been setup at Verdugo Hills High School.
• The high school is located at 10625 Plainview Avenue in Tujunga.
• If needed, enter the Red Cross Disaster Relief center by following the posted signs and entering on Hillrose Street - on the north end of the campus.
• All displaced or evacuated residents who are seeking assistance should make their way to the Red Cross Disaster Relief center at the high school.
• Those whose homes may be threatened by the fire can go to the Disaster Relief center to register. This will allow easier access to information and communication if anything serious occurs.
• The Red Cross staff manning the Disaster Relief center can assist residents with access to resources, including appropriate FEMA information.

While the Disaster Relief center is not a fire command center, they can provide access to traditional media for information for anyone with no other way to access basic coverage.

As always, we are a community that stands together. This situation will not be different. Take care of each other.

All the best,

Dan McManus
President
Sunland Tujunga Neighborhood Council
