DVD World - 8314-16-34 Foothill Blvd.

UPDATE:  Haul Route granted by the Building & Safety Commissioners.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. there will be a haul route hearing.  Haul route hearings are required when dirt, asphalt, demolition of buildings and the debris need to be removed from a site that is proposed to be developed. Haul route permission is granted for up to one year.  The hearing was first held in October but due to a number of questions including the hauling truck route and where the debris would be transported, the hearing was postponed.  The developer's representative scheduled presentations of the plans with the STNC's Land Use Committee but has postponed til after the holidays.  It is not clear what is to be developed.  We've heard from City Planning that a 40 unit affordable housing project will cover the current parking lot behind the former DVD World and that there will be two levels of underground parking.  Scoville is the only street that will be on the haul route.  According to the haul route plans, 18 wheeler trucks will enter and exit from Foothill and Scoville only over a two week period of time.  If you have an interest in this site or may be impacted by the haul route operations we encourage your participation by either attending the haul route hearing or submitting comments.  See letter attached for hearing location.

The haul route application was approved at the hearing on 12/18. They have up to one year from approval to begin. Hauling activities will only move forward with a demolition / grading approved permit by the LADBS which takes place "after" City Planning approval. So, it will be a while before hauling begins. The route will go through Shadow Hills. The developer will be presenting plans as soon as the architect is ready.
