Homeless Count Boot Camp

Dear Stakeholders,

I spent the last two days at the Homeless Count Boot Camp and I am very excited about us being able to participate in the count and make a difference in our community.  This year's count is different because not only will it evaluate a homeless person's eligibility for housing it also creates a Vulnerability Index (VI) that will evaluate each homeless person's immediate need for housing so we will be able to house people who are immediately at risk and help save lives.   It is estimated that we have between 80 and 200 homeless in our community.  I am asking for your help in two aspects of the count.  First we need to know where to find the homeless in the nooks and crannies of Sunland-Tujunga so they can be surveyed and offered assistance and secondly we need 45-60 people to help volunteer to survey the homeless in the evenings of January 29-30-31, 2013.   If you are available to help us with this heartfelt campaign please send Jose Rodriguez an email at jose.rodriguez@lacity.org or call our local CD7 office at 818-352-3287 and leave him message that you are available to help.
