MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA ISSUES STATEMENT ON HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EFFORTS


Mayor Villaraigosa encourages Angelenos to donate to Red Cross Haiti
International Relief Fund

LOS ANGELES - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa today issued the following
statement on the relief efforts currently underway in Haiti after
Tuesday's 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The Los Angeles Fire Department
resources are joining in the international relief effort.

“On behalf of all Angelenos I want to extend our thoughts and prayers
to the Haitian people, as well as to the family and friends of
earthquake victims affected by this unthinkable tragedy.

The City of Los Angeles stands ready and willing to help in any way it
can to ease the suffering and aide in the recovery of this devastating
earthquake.

Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Mark Saxelby and Captain II
Rick Godinez have joined the international relief effort through the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Red Incident Management Team.


I encourage all Angelenos to answer the call of the American Red Cross
to donate to their relief fund to assist the Haitian people."
