PROW Cell Towers
UPDATE: Good News! The Committee voted to send this on to City Council -- finally moving this forward. Thank you to CM Buscaino and Garcetti for your leadership and to Ted Jordan from the City Attorney's office for his updates and report. Look for this to be on the City Council agenda "soon".
PROW Cell Towers - there's still time to get your letter in to the committee.
These are cell towers that are placed in the public right of way (PROW) with little to no community input. One of the most recent installations in S-T is located at Summitrose and Las Lunitas. The STNC submitted a Community Impact Statement on this issue. Your letters will help too. See more details below.
The Public Works Committee again has this issue (CF 09-2645) on its agenda this Wed., 5/9 at 2pm, in Rm. 1050, City Hall. It is #7 on the agenda. An update from the City Attorney to the Public Works Committee on the status of revisions to the ordinance which the City Attorney was directed to do last July (almost 10 months ago) is anticipated.
If you have an interest in whether cell towers should go up along sidewalks near your home, plan to attend the committee meeting this Wednesday to urge the Committee and/or the City Attorney to take action to ensure completion of the revisions to the ordinance as soon as possible. Also include your support for an Interim Control Ordinance. The Public Works Committee has a new chair, Councilman Buscaino, and new members -- Councilman Garcetti and Councilman Krekorian. Remind them of your concerns and expectation of a revised ordinance.
If you are not able to attend, please send emails to the Committee members and legislative assistant, with a copy to the City Attorney, requesting that the directed revisions to the AGF ordinance be completed as soon as possible and also requesting that the Committee propose to the full Council that an ICO be enacted with respect to PROW installations until the new ordinance revisions are enacted.
Send your communication to:
Joe Buscaino, Cmtee Chair councilmember.buscaino@lacity.org
Eric Garcetti, Cmtee member councilmember.garcetti@lacity.org
Paul Krekorian, Cmtee member councilmember.krekorian@lacity.org

(request your letter be placed in CF 09-2645)
copies to: Carmen Trutanich, City Attorney ctrutanich@lacity.org
