More re: Hillside Ordinance

CONFIRMED - Hillside Area Definition Amendment (NOT Baseline Hillside Ordinance - hillside regulations) will be before City Planning Commission on March 26, 2009 at 8 AM.

Greetings All:

This email is to notify you that the Hillside Area Definition and Proposed Hillside Area Map (CPC-2008-4683-CA) will be on the March 26, 2009 City Planning Commission Meeting (item number unknown at this time). The staff report and other related documents are too large to attach to this email, but I have arranged to have the files posted on our Department website (http://cityplanning.lacity.org/). To download these files, please go to our home page and click on "Plans & Ordinances" on the left side, then click on "Proposed Ordinances"; or click on the direct-links provided below:

CPC-2008-4683-CA - March 24, 2009 City Planning Commission Staff Report
CPC-2008-4684-ND - Negative Declaration
Current and Proposed Hillside Area Boundary Map (Zoomable Parcel-Specific Version)
Note: The file linked above is large and may take some extra time to download. The map contains parcel lines for the entire city in order to allow the general public to zoom into their neighborhoods and determine whether their property will remain within the proposed Hillside Area boundaries, or if the designation is proposed for removal. Instructions for how to use this map more effectively can be found on the link below.
Instructions for Citywide Current and Proposed Hillside Area Boundary Map
Proposed Hillside Area Boundaries Only (as of March 2009)
Current Hillside Area Boundaries Only (as of March 2009)

The meeting will start at 8 AM, and will be held at:

Van Nuys City Hall
City Council Chamber, 2nd Floor
14410 Sylvan St.
Van Nuys, CA 91401
(Google Maps Link)

If you can't make it to the meeting, you can also listen to the City Planning Commission meeting over a touch-tone phone by calling CouncilPhone at (213) 621-CITY, (310) 547-CITY, (310) 471-CITY, or at (818) 904-9450. If you have any comments you would like to be seen by the Commission you can always submit written comments (see the instructions included in each CPC Agenda, available at http://cityplanning.lacity.org/ in the "Meetings & Hearings" tab on the left side of the home page).

If you have any questions regarding this item, please do not hesitate to contact me.

On a related matter, staff is still processing the comments received at the Hillside Kick-Off Meetings held on February 17, 19, 23, 24, and 26, 2009. Staff is also working on reducing the file size of the materials presented at the meetings and make them available for those who were not able to attend. We will distribute this information when it is ready by posting it on our Department website or by sending it via email. If you have already asked me to add you to the interested parties list, or provided your email address (legibly) on one of our Kick-Off Meeting sign-in sheets you will get an email when it is available for download.

In order to reduce the number of unwanted email regarding this project, this will be the last unsolicited notification regarding hillside-related code amendment activity. PLEASE ASK TO BE ADDED TO THE NOTIFICATION LIST IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE RECEIVING UPDATES. To be added, just type "Add Me To Hillside Notification List" in the subject line and provide your group/organization/company affiliations and contact information (at least the very least, please include your ZIP Code).

We had a really great turn out at the Kick-Off Meetings and received a lot of new and useful input, and we look forward to working with you again in the upcoming months. If you missed these meetings, you will have plenty of opportunities to attend any of our future workshops or public hearings. Please keep in mind that we are still accepting written comments (no cut-off date has been set yet), so please feel free to send me an email at erick.lopez@lacity.org or mail me at the address below.

At Your Service,
