Update: Mediation Meeting - April 26, 2008 at Mt. Gleason

As Part of the “Stay Agreement” between the City of Los Angeles and The Home Depot, a Mediation process will occur. It is being titled “Sunland-Tujunga Dialogue”. The date for the first dialogue event is Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Gleason Middle School, 10965 Mt. Gleason Avenue, Sunland.

I spoke with Avis Ridley-Thomas from the City Attorney’s Dispute Resolution Program today (4-9-08) and she said a letter will be going out in the mail within the next few days to anyone who signed a speaker card at a public hearing regarding this matter or to anyone who signed up through the City’s Dispute Resolution E-mail address at mediate@lacity.org

Once the letter arrives you can choose to be involved. There are 1,800 volunteer facilitators available to us who help with anything from barking dogs to health reform throughout the State of California. They have been deployed to now help with “improving the quality of life in Sunland-Tujunga”.

The Bylaws of the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council indicate our mission is to improve the Quality of Life in Sunland-Tujunga.
The purposes of the STNC are:
1. To engage the broad spectrum of STNC community stakeholders to collaborate and participate in matters affecting the community including events, issues, and projects.
2. To work with other organizations in Sunland-Tujunga and with other Los
Angeles neighborhood councils.
3. To promote STNC community stakeholder participation and advocacy in Los Angeles city government decision making processes.
4. To propagate community awareness of available Los Angeles city resources.
5. To be an advocate of Sunland-Tujunga to government and private agencies.

We encourage all Sunland-Tujunga stakeholders to participate. Stakeholders are defined in the STNC Bylaws as anyone who lives, works, owns property or particpates in an organization that meets regularly in the community. To be sure you receive the letter that is being sent in advance of the
April 26th , 2008 session, please e-mail mediate@lacity.org or send a request to:

We have been receiving several questions as to why the "Sunland-Tujunga Dialogue" when no project has yet been submitted to the City by The Home Depot. When we get a reply from the City, we'll post it here.
