At tonight's Land Use Committee meeting representatives from Classic Auto Body will present their latest plans.
History: The former body shop at the corner of Plainview and Apperson had been closed for approximately three years. Classic Auto Body has recently reopened the body shop and remodeled the existing sheet metal building, installed new equipment and signage on Apperson. In addition they have purchased the adjacent single family residence properties on Plainview and demolished two of them. Another one is fenced and I understand it too will be demolished so as to expand this business. At the site of the demolished homes exists a temporary office trailer and parking lot now. The Classic Auto Body has been in operation posting sandwich board signage and open for business for several months. The improvements to the old sheet metal building have been a welcome improvement to what it use to be. When Classic Auto Body reps presented at the Land Use Committee in the past they presented that cars would be brought from their other locations (Pasadena) to be worked on. They presented a proposal for a two story office/auto body shop.
Classic Auto Body is now applying for a Conditional Use for the site and this process requires a thorough review and public hearing. The application as presented to City Planning is linked to the front page of the STNC web site at www.stnc.org
