8040 Foothill Blvd - proposed Home Depot in Sunland
This site must comply with the requirements of the Foothill Blvd. Corridor Specific Plan including the benefit of full project review including environmental, noise and traffic impacts. Plans include "structural alterations" to their tenant improvements. The Impact on nearby school and the public safety are at risk. Impact on the quality of life in Sunland-Tujunga is at risk. Suggestions for writing to PLUM:
1. Non conformance to the Foothill Blvd. Corridor Specific Plan. Our community worked hard to put our Specific Plan in place. Its time to enforce it. This site has structural alterations.
2. The proposed "Tenant Improvements" include "structural alterations" including many new steel beams as well as "exterior alterations". These are just two points that make it a "project". A "project" allows full environmental review which is needed for a project of this magnitude.
3. Zoning Administrator, Gary Booher, was very thorough and determined its a project.
4. Negative effect on air quality and persons with respiratory illness that came here for health reasons.
5. They will bring a heavier and more dangerous traffic type than that of a general merchandise store.
6. The elementary school and church located within 500 ft of the site miss the opportunity for CEQA review unless declared a project. Our children's safety is at risk.
7. Please uphold the Zoning Administrator's determination and deny Home Depot their appeal.
